JUNIPER

The mountain juniper is a prestigious high Alpine treasure which only grows at altitudes above 2,000 metres. The juniper twigs have been used for many decades as a traditional incense. They are said to have a purifying and clarifying power.

Because the shrub-like plant contains relatively little oil, even more natural raw materials are required to produce the precious essential juniper oil. You can buy our valued juniper-based products in our Natur-Shop in Unterreinswald or directly online here.

In the fairy-tale forest

The juniper stimulates your regenerative and self-healing powers. Renew yourself!

You still haven’t fully recovered from last year’s defeat. Sure, it was your first courtship ritual ever. The premiere, so to speak. And it was a complete failure. Not even a hen was interested in you. Afterwards you withdrew alone and ruminated on your first failed appearance. On what did not go wrong and on how much you still have to learn and practice. The next courtship season is just around the corner.

Your strong insecurity drives you to isolation. You lack the motivation and drive to go on with your necessary preparation. Your latest song and dance numbers were anything but lively. Moreover, your trill is still much too slow. So you probably won’t be able to conquer a pretty capercaillie hen this year. Maybe you are not cut out for the great courtship stage and you should step away from this conventional performance completely.

You wander through the forest looking for food. You smell a succulent aroma of fresh berries that immediately attracts you. All winter long, you have only fed on fallen needles and you can’t wait to enjoy some fresh buds, blossoms and, above all, a hearty berry feast. A short, steep path takes you to a slightly exposed hill, where a small clearing offers you a wonderful view of the valley below. Suddenly, the scent of berries is very close.

The shrubs behind you are full of fresh blossoms and the first little berry-like cones: something you have never seen before. You greedily grab the little treats. Wow! What wonderful flavour such a small berry can hide! And even the blossoms are pleasantly aromatic. This juniper shrub will quickly become your new favourite treat. Moreover, this small place up here is not too bad as a permanent residence. There is also a tall, safe tree that can serve as your sleeping nest from now on.

Your new home on the juniper hill makes you forget your eternal worries. You feel great here. The tasty juniper diet seems to be good for you. It gives you new energy and fresh self-confidence. Following your gut, you decide to express your intense joy and satisfaction. You start to sing. Your voice suddenly feels more stable and powerful than before. You are tempted to test your trills and clicks again.

Here you feel unobserved and free. It is your small clearing, your personal stage that nobody is going to steal from you anytime soon. Because it is far away from the usual courtship sites of the other capercaillies. You begin to spin and take short, high, fluttering jumps in the air. Finally, you move high up in the tree and test out your new trills. Without any restraint or pressure to succeed the whole show suddenly comes to you more easily.

Only now do you notice that a small group of spectators has gathered down in the valley that lies under your little hill. Three pretty capercaillie hens have followed your performance and are already making eyes at you. Excitement begins to spread through you. At the same time, you are gripped by a new sense of pride and motivation. You want to show the group of hens what you are made of!

Back on the ground, you boldly perform your courtship display and do your best to lure one or two hens up to you. It does not take long before the first hen approaches you. You can hardly believe your luck! Who would have thought that your singing would be so well received and that the hens would come from so far away. They followed your calls and were deeply impressed by your flying and dancing performances.

On this unplanned courtship day, you were able to win over three hens. Success fills you with joy and elevates your self-confidence. You have learned to listen to yourself. To behave as you wish. To avoid being put under pressure. You feel free and reborn. Your new home in the juniper grove has changed your life forever.
